Cupcake Gypsies moving storefront to Fort Collins, switching name in ownership changing

Editor’s note: This article has been updated to include the correct name of the new bakery, Mystic Moon Bakery

The Cupcake Gypsies will say goodbye to its Loveland storefront this weekend and move to Fort Collins. The store will also be changing its name following a change in ownership.

The store, which will now be called Mystic Moon Bakery, announced its closure and move on Facebook adding in a post the last day in the Loveland location would be Saturday. The storefront originally opened along Cleveland Avenue in downtown Loveland in 2019.

Head Baker Andrea Strick, who will be staying with the bakery, said in an email to the Reporter-Herald that the company was contacted by Bloom Floral Boutique in Old Town Fort Collins with an opportunity to share rent in its location that is shared with a couple of other businesses. “We couldn’t pass it up,” Strick added

“Being that our kitchen and storefront have been in two separate locations in Loveland, we pay rent at more than one space and it’s been hard to cover the increasing costs of everything with the inflation of rent, ever increasing cost of employees and increased cost of ingredients,” Strick wrote. “We are saving money by moving the store.”

She did not include any information on the new owner of the bakery, but said Mystic Moon Bakery will make an announcement later as to who they are.

Strick added that while the storefront will be moving to Fort Collins, the company will not be leaving Loveland entirely. The kitchen currently used to make cupcakes will remain in Loveland and the food truck often used by the Cupcake Gypsy team will still be used around Northern Colorado. She added that Mystic Moon Bakery will also still offer an option to pick up custom or catering orders in Loveland.

“We appreciate all the love and support Loveland has shown us over the last four years of being in downtown,” Strick wrote.

The new location, 153 N. College Ave., is expected to open Aug. 4. More information on the bakery can be found on its Facebook page.
