Denver weather: Another record high likely Thursday
For the second straight December day, you might want to pack shorts instead of a winter coat. Denver is expected to reach another record high temperature on Thursday as the mercury builds into the mid-70s.
Wednesday’s high of 73 degrees tied a nearly 50-year-old mark. The average high for this time of year in the Mile High City is in the mid-40s.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver is forecasted to hit a record 75 degrees on Thursday. The current high temperature for Dec. 2 is 74 degrees, set in 1885. Some localized areas may experience elevated fire danger due to low humidity and winds west of Interstate 25. The low will dip to 38 degrees in Denver.
The end of the workweek will be sunny. Cooler temperatures will make their way into the area as temperatures dip to 61 degrees in Denver on Friday. That number is only about 15 degrees above average. The low will stay above freezing.
Highs in the mid-60s and low-50s are possible this weekend.
A storm system could bring some snow into the mountains and maybe into the plains early next week.
