Denver weather: Cool down, chance of thunderstorms Monday

A front is expected to pass through Colorado on Monday, dropping temperatures in the metro area and bringing a chance of storms with it.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, the chance of showers and thunderstorms will build throughout the day on Monday. The best chance for precipitation is in the afternoon into the evening. Winds will shift to the north, gusting up to 40 mph on the plains, 20 mph downtown. Brief heavy rain is possible.

Monday’s high in Denver is forecasted at 84 degrees under partly sunny skies with a low of 57 degrees.

Tuesday will begin with a chance of showers and storms. There’s a 50% chance of precipitation in the afternoon when Denver will reach its high of 79 degrees. Partly sunny skies and wind gusts of 15 mph will accompany the cooler temperatures before the city drops to 53 degrees.

Denver will begin to heat up again Wednesday with a high of 88 degrees. Thursday could see the Mile High City reach 90 degrees once more.
