Heartstopping moment a two-year-old toddler almost lost his fingers when he got his hand stuck in a moving escalator

A CURIOUS two-year-old almost lost his fingers when he got his hand stuck in an escalator in China.

The incident happened in Tongren City’s Jiangkou County, in south-western China’s Guizhou Province, according to reports.

CCTV from a supermarket shows a group of children playing and jumping around the escalator unattended in a shopping mall.

One of the tots in the clip, quickly jams his fingers on his left hand between the moving stairs.

Moments later the child can be seen wailing in pain as he is dragged from the top all the way to the bottom of the escalator.

The boy's mum eventually discovers that her son is stuck and can be seen racing down the escalators to the bottom of the steps.

She presses the emergency stop button and brings the machine to a halt just in time.

The fire service was called and cut open the escalator surrounding the boy’s hand to free him.

Firemen were eventually able to free him after 15 minutes before he was taken to hospital.

Authorities have warned parents of the dangers posed by moving escalators to young children as they can even become death traps, as seen in countless incidents of children falling or getting trapped in escalator mishaps.

Last year, footage was released showing the heartbreaking moment a baby fell from a third-floor escalator to his death after his grandmother slipped.

CCTV captured her falling as she carried him and dropping the four-month-old child.

The incident occurred in the Wu Yue plaza department store in the Qingpu district of Shanghai.
