A housewife who claims she lost two teeth after having a new set of veneers fitted has agreed an out of court settlement of £50,000 with a dentist who denies responsibility.
Vania Spanias, 45, claims she suffered pain and infection after they were fitted over her decaying smile.
She says they chipped, fractured and became discoloured, which left her with toothache and eventually tooth loss.
Vania, of Barnet, north London, later agreed a settlement from her former dentist in an out of court settlement.
She said: "It's all had such a negative impact on my life.
"I've been in so much pain, and undergoing further treatment and losing multiple teeth has been awful."
Between March 2014 and March 2015, she visited a dentist at Azamay Dental Spa in Cockfosters, north London.
Vania said she was “a bit concerned” about discolouration of one tooth.
She said the dentist "recommended I had veneers fitted on 16 teeth".
Vania said: "She was singing praises about veneers and indicated they'd be right for me, so I decided to go ahead with the treatment."
But things then took a turn for the worse.
She claimed she had been given the impression the veneers “were virtually indestructible and would last for years”.

Vania continued: “But it wasn't long before one of them cracked. So, I went back to see her and she said I needed a filling to solve the problem."
More of the veneers fractured which resulted in more appointments to get them repaired, she claims.
She added: "One of my teeth had also become sharp and was hurting my tongue.
"My whole mouth just felt really painful and sensitive, and I kept experiencing more and more problems with the veneers.”

She decided to see a different dentist for a second opinion, who she claims was surprised she had the veneers fitted at all.
Vania added: "He said my veneers hadn't been fitted properly, and couldn't believe that some had been fitted on teeth where there were clear signs of decay.”
Analysis of her dental records revealed inadequate veneers had been fitted, she said.

It also showed they had never really been necessary and had been fitted on decaying teeth.
She lost two teeth as a result and has had to have further treatment, including three implants fitted.
The Dental Law Partnership took on her case in 2017, which was settled in 2019.
The group's Jenny Wood said: "The distress and pain our client has experienced was completely unnecessary.
"If the dentist had carried out adequate treatment in the first place, her problems could have been avoided."
The dentist settled out of court on a no admission of any liability basis.
According to its website, Azamay ceased trading on May 11 2016 with the location taken over by new management.
A note says the former dentist involved in Vania's case has no connection with the new ownership and left the practice before May 15 2016.
