Hunt for ‘kidnapped’ teen girl as she tried to escape through car window
The search is on to establish the welfare of a young girl who was seen trying to escape a car in North London on Saturday.
A concerned member of the public reported the incident to police as they saw the “screaming” girl attempt to flee the vehicle, only to be dragged back into the car.
The girl was shouting for help as she looked to escape to the open rear window from the passenger seat of a black Mercedes.
Police are now looking for the vehicle and its driver, described as a black man with dreadlocks, that was on Plevna Crescent, Haringey at around 6.40pm.
A witness saw the car take off towards St Ann’s Road before turning right onto Frinton Road.
The girl has been described as black with braided hair and was wearing a red hoodie and tracksuit bottoms at the time.
Police are now asking locals living in the area to check their security cameras or dashcams for footage of the vehicle.
The Metropolitan Police say they are taking the report "very seriously" and are following up a number of lines of enquiry to identify the teenager.
Detective Inspector Lyndsey Billaney, North Area Command Unit, said: "We are taking this report very, very seriously and are pursuing a number of urgent lines of enquiry to try to identify the girl and establish her welfare.
