I'm a professional cleaner and I was called to a disgusting home FILLED with stinking rubbish – it took 7 HOURS to clean

A FLAT overflowing with rubbish and bottles took a team of professional cleaners seven hours to clean.

Jonny Caisley, head of a cleaning company in Newcastle, was called to the city-centre property – but was shocked by the mountains of smelling trash he found.

The alcoholic owner had left the flat in a disgusting state, which took all Jonny’s staff and three van loads to clean.

Rubbish cluttered every surface and covered the floor, while empty beer and rum bottles had gathered a thick layer of dust.

There was also a “horrendous” smell, as pizza boxes and leftover food were stuffed into the kitchen stove. Plastic bags of more waste piled up on the counters.

The furniture was also in disrepair, with discarded mattresses, overturned sofas and even tyres strewn about the flat.

Jonny Caisley, director of Gold Star Haulage and Removals, said: “The owner was an alcoholic who let it go to wreck and ruin.

"I got a call to view it and I thought 'this is bad'. But, it's a job. Other companies had turned it down.

"The smell was horrendous. The food had been left there for a while, as had everything else.

"We removed all sorts, clothes, tyres, mattresses, rubbish.

"All of my staff were working on the job and it took six or seven hours to do – and three van loads."

Even after the removal, photos show huge black stains on the carpets. However, Jonny believes the flat still has potential for its next owners.

He added: "The flat is in the middle of Newcastle city centre, it's a sought after area and those flats cost around £150K.

“The neighbours were happy we had cleared it as I think he was a nightmare neighbour type.

"It's a great location and a decent size. Hopefully, someone else can move in and give it a new lease of life."

A flat in a similar state of neglect, labelled a "perfect investment", is going up for auction on April 21. The West Kilbride one-bedroom flat was full of abandoned furniture and coated in dust, but presents a great renovation project to its new owners.

A mum-of-five, however, took to social media recently to defend her messy three-bedroom house. The TikTok user @meganhageyyy shared a video saying how people should “normalise” homes that don't look perfect.
