I'm a Wetherspoons superfan & have visited 240 in five years – it’s getting worse, here’s how they need to change | The Sun

A WETHERSPOONS superfan has revealed why he believes the pub chain is getting worse.

Tim Clarke, 66, has visited 240 different pubs since beginning his UK-wide tour of refillable coffees or pints of beer alongside his wife in 2018.

The Asda delivery driver collects a menu from each pub as proof of his visit, writing on it the date and result of his beloved Nottingham Forest if they are playing on the same day.

His go-to meal is the traditional large breakfast.

Just £5 gets him a sausage, two hash browns, a fried egg, bacon and a slice of toast with butter.

Tim keeps the menus in two folders and each is carefully ordered alphabetically in case his grandchildren decide to look at them one day.

But he claims he has noticed changes to the pub chain over the last five years.

The grandfather told The Mirror its "prices have gone up and you get less food", while it has also closed down a number of its sites.

He added: "Back in the old days, you used to get really big helpings. But I guess that's the same with everywhere now."

Tim has also called for Wetherspoons to introduce a passport that can be stamped to help people "know where the pubs are".

There are currently 826 Wetherspoons pubs in the UK and Tim is wants to buy a campervan so he and his wife can tick more sites off the list.

He has already covered all the chain's venues in Nottingham, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

The desire to visit the pubs means he has travelled to towns he otherwise would never have gone to, he added.

It comes as the pub chain closes several more pubs, with 25 remaining up for sale.

The Billiard Hall in West Bromwich closed on May 21, while the Last Post in Loughton shut on May 14.

The Bank House in Cheltenham was taken off the market this month. and the Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis in Southampton closed last week.
