Inside James Bond villain-style £20m mansion with hidden underground tunnels

A James Bond villain-style mansion – complete with hidden underground tunnels – has gone on the market for £20million.

The five-bedroom and four-bathroom property located in Sydney, Australia, also comes with a heated swimming pool, as well as state-of-the-art gizmos, controlled by a mobile phone.

The current owners, Rob and Wendy Proctor say they can turn on pretty much anything in the house with their mobile phone – including the lights and music and open the doors.

If that’s not enough, the views are simply stunning, taking in Sydney’s skyline, including the world-famous opera house.

The Proctors also built an underground tunnel to install a lift to the property.

Miners took three months carving out the 25-metre cavity, which has left a beautiful way into the home unique from all the neighbours.

And now they are selling the super house so “someone else can enjoy it.”

And the only reason they built the £1million tunnel was that they were fed up with walking up its 63 steps to the front door.

They told 9News: “We've been walking up those 63 stairs for 40 years carrying shopping in the rain, that's the answer.

"We were lucky also that it was dry, the stone was beautiful and it was dry, they were so skilled and the way it's so smooth the way they've built it.

"I think he'd (Bond) find it inspirational.”

More than 800 tonnes of rock were dug out to create the tunnel which was transported to a nearby golf course to extend its greens.

Estate agent Jacqui Rowland-Smith said: “You come out of the garage and walk into the tunnel, the lights come on and there’s music… it’s mesmerising.”

The couple are looking for £20million for the futuristic house – after buying it 40 years ago for £200,000.
