- Hopes that new Netflix true crime documentary could finally clear his name
A millionaire playboy jailed for 18 years for murder hopes a new true crime Netflix documentary will finally prove his innocence.
Professional gambler Jason Moore was convicted of stabbing petty criminal Robert Darby to death in a pub car park in east London in August 2005.
Moore, who made a fortune from spread-betting on cricket, has always maintained he did not kill Darby and has refused to take part in an early release programme at HMP Oakwood where he is being held because he must admit his guilt.
His case was rejected by the Court of Appeal in September 2017 and the Criminal Case Review Commission has refused to reconsider his conviction.

Happier times: Jason Moore (second from right), is pictured with his partner Sandra Dumont (left to right), sister Rhonda, friend Robert, sister Kirstie Moore and mum Jenny Moore. The photo was taken just three months before the murder in 2005.
But now his case is set to feature in a true crime documentary series which will be broadcast on Netflix, in the latest attempt by the ‘Free Jason Moore’ campaign to get him released.
Jason Moore went on the run in the days after murder, fearing reprisals and lived under a false identity on the Costa Del Sol in Spain and Dubai in the Middle East.
But he returned to UK in September 2012 and gave himself up to the police in a bid to clear his name.
The trial at the Old Bailey heard how Moore and Darby were involved in a ‘love triangle’ over the affections of Adele Raynor, who worked in a bar underneath the gambler’s £1.4 million Canary Wharf apartment.
Moore admitted Robert Darby had threatened to ‘chop my toes off’, that he had been at the car park of the Valentine pub in Gants Hill, east London, at the time but claimed he was not the killer as he had remained in a car when the stabbing took place.

But the jury found him guilty of the murder and acquitted his co-defendant Martin Power of all charges.
Moore was led screaming to the cells, violently kicking the dock and threatening a police officer.
Judge Nicholas Hilliard sentenced him to life in prison with a minimum tariff of 18 years.
However, Moore has always maintained his innocence and have led a tireless campaign to prove his innocence and secure his release.
‘Quite simply Jason didn’t kill Robert Darby,’ his long-term partner Sandra Dumont told MailOnline.
‘I know it, the police know it, even Darby’s family know it but Jason’s still in jail with no prospect of release.
‘After Jason got sent down we have done everything we can to prove that he didn’t do it.
‘We have spoken to lawyers, to private investigators and to Robert Darby’s brother Tim.
‘We have uncovered new witnesses and evidence that all proves that Jason did not kill anyone.
‘But the Court of Appeal found against him and the Criminal Case Review Commission has refused to have another look at his case.
Brother of the deceased Tim Darby believes convicted killer Jason Moore was the police’s ‘fall guy’
‘So when we were approached by a production company to make a documentary for Netflix we jumped at the chance. This could finally get Jason free.’
Jason’s sister Kirstie Moore added: ‘After nine years at looking at the files Jason’s conviction I have concluded that police withheld evidence and testaments from the defence that would have exonerated my brother of murder.’
Tim Darby told MailOnline: ‘I have been in contact with Jason Moore’s family and his solicitor for years.
‘The Moores have suffered just as the Darby family has.
‘I experienced, first hand, how police shamelessly ignored evidence and information I passed on to them.
‘These people are an utter disgrace.
‘They don’t care about justice or right or wrong.
‘Police were just determined to arrest and convict ‘a body’ any way they could. [Jason] Moore was their fall guy.’
Businessman Tim explained how he had instructed the firm of retired Met Police detectives TM Eye to investigate his brother’s murder after he was concerned about Moore’s conviction.
He said: ‘A couple of years after the trial I instructed this firm TM Eye to look into my brother’s death because everyone was telling me that Moore had nothing to do with it.
‘They are retired Met Police detectives and they spent two years going through the case.
‘They concluded that Moore never stabbed my brother.’
The documentary will look into the role of the Crown Prosecution’s two key witnesses. One claimed he saw the actual fight. The other was driving past.

However, at an identity parade the first witness picked out a volunteer who was the same height and built as the co-defendant Martin Power.
At a second identity parade, which included a picture of Moore, who is distinct because of his 6’5” height, failed to identify anyone.
The second witness also failed to identify Moore.
The documentary will look into why the murder weapon was never found.
The documentary will also look into why the Crown did not mention that Adele Raynor gave a statement saying that she had never been romantically involved with Moore.
And the film makers will interview new witnesses about the role of a possible involvement of a third party in Robert Darby’s death and analyse new evidence, including CCTV footage of the murder scene.
Last night a Met Police spokeswoman told MailOnline that investigation of the murder of Robert Darby ‘remains closed’.
But she added: ‘Should the circumstances change we will assess them and consider the most appropriate way to manage any developments in this investigation.’
