Manchester United and England ace Jesse Lingard was raided by ‘Away Day’ robbers as thieves stole more than £100,000 in clothes and jewellery from his home.

Lingard’s house in Hale, Greater Manchester was raided by a gang of robbers as United visited Aston Villa on January 15 and he has now accepted an offer to sell the mansion.

Lingard was targeted just days before thieves robbed his Manchester United teammate Victor Lindelof when the Swedish international was playing for the Red Devils against Brentford on January 19.

The 27-year-old showed off his luxury five-bedroom house in an episode of MTV Cribs and led the cameras to his dressing room where his clothes, 28 caps and 96 pairs of trainers are kept.

Lingard talked through the importance of the room, explaining how looking at the caps each morning puts him in a positive mood for the start of the day.

‘My most prized possessions, my clothes, my trainers, my England caps.

‘I like to come in here every morning when I get changed, look at my caps.

‘Start the day off right. Puts me in a positive mindset for the day.

The footballer also boasts an impressive wardrobe full of designer suits, shirts and jackets

‘This cap (vs Panama) is very important, my first goal at the World Cup. To actually score, a massive feeling, will remain in my heart, forever.

‘I’m just proud that I represented my country. I did them proud.’

Lingard also boasted of an impressive wardrobe full of designer clothes including suits and a henley jacket.

The mansion is complete with a swimming pool, cinema room and an impressive outdoor play area for his one-year-old daughter which includes a climbing frame and swing.

The footballer has also been using the goal in his garden to practice during lockdown but is now back training with the rest of his team-mates ahead of the Premier League’s restart later this month.

Raids against footballers have increased in recent years with thieves taking advantage of athletes’ public schedule to launch daring robberies.

British transfer record signing Angel di Maria left Manchester United after just one season after armed thugs raided his Manchester mansion.

Burglars used scaffolding poles in a bid to smash their way into Di Maria’s Cheshire home of as he ate dinner with his family in February 2015.

A gang of three armed thugs are reported to have used the metal poles in an attempt to break through patio doors at the Argentine’s mansion.

The ace – who moved to Paris Saint-Germain at the end of that season – was with his wife Jorgelina Cardoso and young daughter Mia when the terrifying raid unfolded.

United star Victor Lindelof’s family were in the house as the intruders broke in.

Maja Nilsson Lindelof locked herself, her three-year-old son Ted Louie and her baby Francis in a room as the raiders broke into their home, while Victor was on the pitch in London.

In an Instagram story after the burglary, Lindelof’s wife Maja said: ‘During Victor’s game this Wednesday night we had a break-in at our house in Manchester.

‘I was home alone with both kids but we managed to hide and lock ourselves in a room before they entered our house.

‘We are OK under the circumstances but it was obviously a very traumatic and scary moment for both and my little kids.’

The Sun has reported that two other unnamed Manchester United stars have been targeted by the gang and the club has stepped up to recruit a ‘security squad’ to stamp out the raids.

Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo revealed he suffered a similar ordeal at the end of December.

The player’s partner, Daniela, and baby daughter, Alicia, were in the house when a burglary took place.

The Portugal international, 27, who lives in the suburbs of Manchester, posted a picture of himself on Instagram to document his wounds following the attack.

‘Unfortunately today I was assaulted by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family,’ he said.

‘When you show resistance this is what happens. They managed to take all my jewellery and leave me with my face with this state.

‘I don’t know how there are people with such meanness. The most important thing for me is my family and luckily they are all OK.

‘And after so many obstacles in my life, this is just one more than I will overcome. Firm and strong, like always.’

Chelsea and England star Reece James has also been targeted in recent months. He  shared shocking footage of a gang of ‘cowardly robbers’ breaking into his house and stealing a safe containing his Champions League and England medals in September.

James, 21, was playing for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday September 14, when the gang broke into his £2.5 million house in north Surrey, which was empty at the time.

He posted footage of the gang on Instagram which shows them coming through a gate and forcing their way inside before escaping with a heavy safe, while James and his team mates were beating Zenit Saint-Petersburg 1-0 in the Champions League.

Reece James (pictured with his Champions League winners medal) said the safe contained his Champions League and Super Cup medals, as well as his England Euro 2020 runners up medal

‘I never keep any jewellery of mine in my house so all that was contained in the safe were my Champions League winners medal and Super Cup winners medal and the runners up medal for the Euro 2020,’ he said.

‘These medals were won representing Chelsea and England – honours that can never be taken away from me whether or not I have the physical medals to prove it.

‘Nevertheless, I am appealing to all my Chelsea and England fans to help identify and turn in these low life individuals who will never be able to rest easy as the evidence is mounting against them.’
