King Charles ‘sending message’ to Meghan Markle with photo, royal expert claims

The official coronation program has been published and is already making headlines for featuring a surprising family photo.

The photo in question is a group shot taken in late 2018 to mark King Charles' 70th birthday, which features the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan.

Given the couple's highly publicised departure from royal life and their numerous criticisms of the institution, the inclusion of this particular photo has raised eyebrows.

The shot features the happy couple alongside other senior royals including King Charles, his wife Queen Camilla, Prince William, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their children.

Some have speculated the inclusion is a calculated move on the part of King Charles to send a message of love and inclusion to his son and daughter-in-law, despite their ongoing disagreements with the Royal Family.

As royal expert Daniela Elser wrote for news.com.au: "The King is sending a far-from-subtle message.

"That despite the Netflix series, the tell-all book, all those interviews and that one live stream where Harry admitted to experimenting with drugs like a first year philosophy major; despite having dragged the royal family through the mud and readily monetised his family feuding, His Majesty still loves Harry and sees Meghan as part of the family."

Regardless of the motivations behind the photo's inclusion, the program is sure to become a collector's item in the years to come, especially given the ongoing drama surrounding the Sussexes and their relationship with the Royal Family.

The recent announcement that Harry will attend while Meghan remains in the US with their son for his birthday has sparked further speculation about the state of their relationship with the royals, and whether they will ever fully reconcile.

"It might be going a bit far to say it feels like there is a degree of longing here on Charles’ part but I certainly think we can say this constitutes some familial wishful thinking," Elser continued.

Any potential interactions Prince Harry has with the royals at the coronation are sure to be closely analysed, but it looks likely that the soured relationship shows little signs of healing in the near future.
