Labour big beast Harriet Harman poised to announce she is quitting after 40 years in Parliament
VETERAN Labour MP Harriet Harman is poised to quit after 40 years in Parliament, The Sun can reveal.
The political big beast, 71, is known as the ‘mother of the House’ as she is Britain’s longest serving female MP.
But after four decades representing Camberwell and Peckham in south London, she is expected to announce that she will not be standing at the next election.
First elected back in 1982, Mr Harman burst onto the Westminster scene to ruffle feathers.
She was one of just 10 female Labour MPs back then, and an outspoken feminist and womens rights campaigner.
Among her crusades was her campaign against Page 3.
