Lad who hid in container during hide and seek found abroad days later

A hide-and-seek ace got the shock of his life when he found himself in a different country six days after starting the game.

Master hider Fahim, 15, opted for a shipping container when he settled into his game in Bangladesh – but by the time he came out, he was over 3,000 kilometres away in Malaysia.

So confident was he in his elite hiding place that, with no fear of being found, decided to take a kip inside the container.

In that time, LadBible reports, the container was filled with cargo and sent off on a six-day-long transit to Malaysia.

It is understood both Fahim and staff at Port Klang were shocked in equal measure by his being there when it was opened up on January 17, six days after it set sail on January 11.

The young boy did not have any food and is understood to have been shouting for help throughout the journey.

When he was finally able to leave the container he of course could not understand the language spoken by his saviours.

Eventually, a member of staff at the port heard the sound of knocking coming from inside one of the containers, leading to them opening it up – upon discovery shocked workers whipped out phones to film the once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Shocked Malaysian authorities attended the scene, including the Marine Police Force, the Malaysian Immigration Department and the Klang District Health Department.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said: “When the vessel arrived at Westport and the container was unloaded, authorities found the boy inside.

“He is the only one found inside the container. A police report has been lodged and the boy, who has a fever, was taken for a medical examination.

“We are now in the process of repatriating him.

“He was the only boy found inside the container. We are not linking this to human trafficking because the initial investigation found that he entered the container, fell asleep and (was transported to) Malaysia.”

Initial fears that Fahim was the victim of human trafficking have since been dispelled by Malaysian authority.
