Mass brawl breaks out in gym as bloke struck in head and fitness freak flees

A four-man brawl at a Merseyside gym has left one man requiring hospital treatment for a head injury.

Police were called to reports of a fistfight at a branch of Everlast Gym in Aintree, Merseyside, at around 10.25am this morning (February 28).

Footage obtained by Liverpool Echo showed the moment the scuffle broke out as two burly pairs of men squared up around the free weights and cycling machines before they started throwing punches.

One man seemed to scarper, followed by another who then returned to the remaining two who were still fighting and punched one of them at least three times.

The fight continued as other fitness fanatics watched on, and shouting by various people could be heard.

But the brawl was eventually broken up by a woman at the gym, who shouted: "f***ing stop" at the offending men.

One of the men, thought to be in his 20s, suffered a head injury in the brawl and was sent to hospital for treatment.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said of the incident: "We can confirm that officers were in Aintree following an incident earlier today, Tuesday, February 28.

"At around 10.25am, officers were called to Everlast Gym on Ormskirk Road to reports of fighting between males at the location. A man in his 20s subsequently attended hospital with a head injury."

The footage also received attention on Twitter after it was posted earlier today, racking up nearly 50k views at the time of writing.

"Steroids got a lot to answer for," one user wrote, while another added: "Could hear that punch by the lad running in on 20 secs."

A third chimed in: "The way he fixes his cap mid fight tho," followed by two laughing emojis.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is to contact Merseyside Police on their website or via Twitter with reference 251.
