Detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s home, where they seized digital devices including desktop computers, laptops, storage devices and mobile phones.
Police allege a forensic triage of some devices revealed the man had been communicating with numerous children over internet-based chat applications.
During these conversations, he was allegedly exposing them to indecent material and procuring them to create explicit videos.
Three children have been identified, including one living in the United Kingdom and another in America. One child is from Australia.
Victim identification specialists will review the seized devices and work with national and international law enforcement to identify and rescue any further child victims.
The 62-year-old man has been charged with eight counts of possessing child exploitation material, three counts of distributing the material and using electronic communication to expose a child believed to be under 16 to indecent matter.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
