Police are still hunting for a prisoner nearly three weeks after he leapt out of a dock and fled after being told he was going to jail.

Nathan Oloyowang, 22, made his dramatic escape from Wood Green Crown Court just after he was jailed for 10 months by Judge Jennifer Newcomb on 4 June.

The judge had sentenced Oloyowang to a stint in prison for driving over a bicycle belonging to a police officer who had approached him in north London.

He dragged the bike under his car for up to 50 metres in Camden on 22 March 2019 – but the officer was unhurt in the incident.

As he was told he would be jailed for 10 months, he climbed out of the dock, breaking a perspex screen, and ran out of the court building.

Oloyowang then ran down three flights of stairs and out of the court’s main entrance before security officers could stop him.

A member of security staff sustained slight injuries to his hand during the incident.

Oloyowang lives in Camden in north London and is black, 6ft 1in with short dark hair.

Police have advised the public not to approach him if they see him, but to call 999 immediately.

Earlier this month a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘On Friday 4 June at about 15:30hrs at Wood Green Crown Court, a 22-year-old man was sentenced to ten months in prison for dangerous driving.

‘On receiving the custodial sentence he climbed out of the dock and in the course of the incident the dock perspex was broken and a member of court security received slight injuries to his hand.

‘The man then made off from the court.’

A Serco spokesman said: ‘Following sentencing, a prisoner escaped from the insecure dock at Wood Green Court last Friday afternoon, scaling the dock and breaking the glass in the process.’

The Met Police today appealed for the public’s help in finding Oloyowang, who lives in the NW3 area of Camden.

He is described as black, 6ft 1in tall, with a heavy build and short dark hair. He was clean shaven when he was last seen.

The public should not approach Oloyowang if they see him. Instead, they should call 999 immediately.

In January this year, dangerous driver Marian Vasilica Dragoi, 19, launched a desperate escape bid from the dock in court nine of Wood Green Crown Court.

Court nine is directly above, and identical to court seven, where Oloyowang escaped.

Dragoi ran down four flights of stairs before he was apprehended by security officers who spotted him approaching on CCTV and closed the court’s front doors.

Oloyowang, of Adelaine Road, Swiss Cottage, denied and was convicted of dangerous driving and sentenced to ten months.
