Queen set to ‘ban royals wearing military uniforms’ at Prince Philip’s funeral
No members of the Royal Family will be allowed to wear military uniforms for Prince Philip's funeral at the weekend, reports claim.
The order, said to be directly from the Queen, is seen as a preemptive strike after tongues started wagging over which royal members will be allowed to wear their military uniform.
The move is seen as Her Majesty saving her grandson Prince Harry from the humiliation of being the only senior royal wearing a suit.
However, as The Sun claims, there was also said to be “serious Navy displeasure” over a row brewing on whether Prince Andrew should wear an admiral’s uniform after he stepped back from royal life.
The move demonstrates the shrewd skills and deft touch of the reigning monarch to diffuse tensions and smooth out any problems in her family.
A military source reportedly told The Sun: “It’s the most eloquent solution to the problem.”
Prince Harry served in two tours of Afghanistan with the Blues and Royals during an acclaimed military career.
After Harry quit royal duty with wife Meghan Markle, the Queen later removed his three military titles meaning he can only wear a suit with medals at royal events.
Prince Andrew was due to be promoted to Admiral from Vice-Admiral in 2020 to mark his 60th birthday but chose to defer the promotion.
Prince Andrew has been heavily criticised for his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein who committed suicide in a New York jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in 2019.
It is thought that Prince Harry will make a sharp exit out of the UK once the funeral is over, keen to reunite with his wife and child in California.

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine said: "I think Harry will very much want to get back to Meghan as soon as the funeral is over.
"He will probably return to California maybe the next day or maybe later on Saturday."
In a moving tribute to his grandfather, Harry said the Duke of Edinburgh was “a man of service, honour and great humour."
In a statement issued through his foundation Archewell, he said: "He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm-and also because you never knew what he might say next."
