Royal fans think Meghan Markle has just joined the WWE in ‘mental’ mix-up

A hilarious mix-up saw fans of Meghan Markle wrongly think she had signed up to wrestling giant WWE.

Meghan has in fact signed up with William Morris Endeavor (WME), a Hollywood talent agency that has represented major stars including Dwayne Johnson, Adele and tennis player Serena Williams.

The agency is expected to work with the Duchess on film and TV production, brand partnerships and overall business-building – but will not focus on acting, and definitely not wrestling.

Announcing the news this morning, WME tweeted a photo of a beaming Meghan wearing a black and white off the shoulder dress.

It wrote: "We are honored to announce that WME now represents Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex in all areas."

But many people had to do a double take, thinking the acronym was in fact that of WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment.

"For a second there I read WWE," one person wrote, with several others saying they did the same.

Another bloke added: "You’d be correct in thinking I’d misread this and thought the most mental thing to ever happen had happened."

Another added: "I’ve only just woken up and at first glance I thought this said Meghan was joining WWE, which would have been a really unexpected plot twist. Finishing move – The Royal Elbow."

The Duchess of Sussex's non-wrestling team will include Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, as well as agents Brad Slater and Jill Smoller.

WME will also represent Archewell, Prince Harry and Meghan's content creation label.

"The agency will be focusing on building out her business ventures across multiple facets of the agency & its broader ecosystem, including film & television production, brand partnerships & more," a statement added.
