Sizzling 25C heatwave set to warm Brits and bring ‘hottest week of the year’

Brits are set to melt in a 25C heatwave on the horizon as a heat plume could bring the hottest weak of the year.

The latest forecast claims next weekend will see hotter than average temperatures sizzle across the country and into May.

Monday will see 19C which is 5C above average with seven days of blue skies and sunny spells.

Tuesday will bring some form of showers but it won't put a damper on the hot week.

Highs of 15C midweek will allow Brits to still enjoy the outside, but the Met Office predict temperatures will warm up again by the weekend.

Mercury could soar to 18C next Saturday and Sunday.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “Daytime temperatures will rise a little over the next few days.”

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze added: “Computer models show a lot of dry weather now, then warmer spells in late April and into May seeing 25C possible in the South."

Previously, a Met Office forecaster said: “Temperatures recover on Monday and most areas will feel warm by the afternoon.

“After some rain on Tuesday, most will be fine and dry to the weekend, with high pressure dominating and temperatures probably warming slightly by the weekend.

“Plenty of sunny spells are expected into May, with the possibility of warmer spells.”

The weather agency's long forecaster expects the first half of May to be in high temperatures, with 'mixed weather patterns'.

On Sunday, Brits enjoyed 17C which will continue on Monday and Tuesday with the highest of 18C predicted across both days.

People flocked to the coastlines and beaches to soak up the sun, and others took to their local beer gardens and parks.

Bookies Coral have cut the odds on May being the warmest on record in the UK to just 3-1.

Spokesman Harry Aitkenhead said: "We've endured plenty of cold days this April but the sun is beginning to shine and the long-range forecast looks good."
