Sources close to Will and Kate reveal possible reasons for their marital success

An expert has revealed some of the reasons for the success of Prince William and Kate Middleton's marriage after the couple marked ten years together this year.

Will and Kate have managed to balance their relationship with the immense pressure of their public life, no mean feat over the couple's ten year relationship.

In the end however, it is team work and shared goals that have led to the couple's success together, according to royal expert Daniela Elser.

Speaking to the Telegraph, a source close to the couple said: “Ultimately they are very much on the same side, on the same team. There is quite a lot of affectionate joshing between them but they have always had each other’s backs.

While Charles’ jealousy over Diana’s growing popularity soured their marriage, William and Kate are proud of each others' accomplishments.

“They’ve got a solid relationship and she gives him confidence,” one friend who attended the couple’s 2011 wedding revealed to The Times. “There is no jealousy, no friction, they are happy for each other’s successes.”

The couple have much in common and are able to support each other through the good times and the bad.

A royal insider said of Will and Kate: “They are both very similar in the respect that they are intrinsically quite shy people who have sometimes struggled with life in the limelight.

“When he is having a difficult time, she is the one who helps him through it but it works both ways. He is there for her and she is there for him.”

“Watching them over the past decade, they are the couple who finish each other’s sentences,” royal biographer Katie Nicholl has said.

“As with any marriage, there have been ups and downs, but they have got through them. This is a marriage based on friendship.”

That equality extends their home life where they reportedly balance their royal duties with raising their three children.

The successful relationship between the pair also lies in the fact that they have the same priorities in life.

As one royal courtier told Tatler last year: “Kate understands that the only credo of the Royal Family is duty, duty, duty.”

Daniela reminds us that Kate appeared in from of the cameras less than 24 hours after giving birth, to wave for the crowds.

Kate also remained outwardly unaffected when carrying out her duties on her and William’s tour through southeast Asia to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee when topless photos of Kate, taken during the couple’s recent holiday in France, were published.

Daniela stresses that Kate has given William a “taste of normality”, allowing them to balance their personal and private lives and says it was Kate pushed for a more strategic approach to the media.

A family friend of the Middleton family said: “Where his relationship with the media was once all fury and frustration, he now understands using the power of modern media, so the public feel they’re getting enough access.”
