Teen charged with sexual abuse of 63-year-old woman during break-in

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly breaking into a 63-year-old’s home before sexually abusing her in northern NSW.

Police were called to a home just before 3am on Thursday after reports a woman was sexually abused by a person unknown to her in Casino.

Officers were told the 63-year-old woman was asleep when the teenager broke into her home and entered her bedroom.

The 14-year-old allegedly threatened and sexually touched her before fleeing via the back door of the home.

The woman was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment where she undertook a Sexual Assault Investigation Kit.

Following a police investigation, a 14-year-old boy was arrested at his home about 9.45pm on Thursday. A number of items were seized after police conducted a search at the property.

The boy was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and two counts of sexually touching another person without consent.

He was refused bail and will appear at a children’s court on Friday.
