Teen ‘throws cat off cliff edge into the sea’ in horrifying Snapchat clip

A "disgusting" video appearing to show a teen throwing a cat off the edge of a cliff into the sea has prompted a police investigation.

A now-viral clip posted to social media shows a boy standing atop the grassy precipice and looking out onto the water below.

He can be seen holding a black and white cat in one hand before seemingly launching it off the cliff.

The tragic moggy was recorded soaring through the air for several seconds as its attacker watches it fall, seemingly into the water below.

The boy and several other teens can then be seen running away as the clip cuts out.

The 13-second video was posted to Twitter with the caption: "What have I just seen on my Snapchat," with the word "Disgusting" written over the video along with a green-faced sick emoji.

Viewers were quick to respond in horror to the stomach-churning alleged abuse, with one writing: "No I’m going to cry," and another simply adding: "Wtf".

Another said: "I can't believe what I've just seen."

Lancashire Police are now trying to determine exactly what happened and believe the incident took place in Carnforth, Lancaster.

A spokesperson for the force told the Daily Star: "We are aware of a video which has been posted on social video which appears to show an act of cruelty to a cat in the Carnforth area.

"This is a matter which we are investigating – we are establishing the exact circumstances and where it happened."

Officers also encouraged anyone with information that could help the investigation to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting log 1803 of July 10, 2023.
