John Lee, Hong Kong's new chief executive, said in a statement on Friday (July 29): "I am shocked by the incident. I express sympathy to those who were injured and hope that they would recover soon."
He also asked the leisure department and other agencies to investigate the accident and "review the safety requirements of similar performance activities".
Concert organiser Makerville and MusicNation apologised to the public and cancelled the remaining shows until they have a "full investigation report".
Fans were left shaken by the incident as some shared their thoughts on social media.
One said: "Praying for the injured dancers and get well soon", while a second added: "We are here for you, please get well soon, you can make it!"
Expert KokKeung Lo estimated the screen to weigh about 600kg and said it could be a fatal incident.
He added: "The force is comparable to a taxi running to you at a speed of 52kpm. It would be miracle that he survives."
