Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced the news in a statement, insisting that sanctioned Russian oligarchs “cannot hide”.

She said: “Last month, I warned that the Department [of Justice] had its eyes on every yacht purchased with dirty money.

“This yacht seizure should tell every corrupt Russian oligarch that they cannot hide, not even in the remotest part of the world.

Kerimov was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control in 2018.
