Tragedy as woman, 29, found dead in Airbnb bathroom by devastated friends during hen do | The Sun

A WOMAN was found dead in an Airbnb bathroom by her friends who had rented out the apartment for a hen do.

Pal Louise Johnson found Kay Reed’s body at 1.30am at the property in Liverpool city centre.

Just days earlier Kay and her friends had taken a minibus from Redcar, North Yorkshire, to Merseyside to celebrate a friend’s upcoming wedding.

The women had spent the day celebrating and playing crazy golf before returning to their apartments.

Kay began to complain that she was feeling sick and went to bed but was later found before the emergency services were called.

Despite receiving medical attention she could not be saved, an inquest into her death on May 1 was told yesterday.

The court heard how the call centre operative, who lived in Redcar, had been out drinking with her pals in Liverpool city centre on the night April 29.

The next day the group went to a Wetherspoons at 10.30am and then went to Junkyard Golf Club to play crazy gold and ate at Five Guys before returning to the apartments on Dale Street to get ready for a night bout.

They spent the evening at the Alma De Cuba bar before returning the Airbnb apartments at 12.30am.

Kaye was found dead an hour later.

Her fellows ‘hens’ have paid touching tributes to the “gorgeous” and “bubbly” 29-year-old who had passed a masters degree in 2016 from Birmingham City University.

Coroner Anita Bhardwaj handed down a conclusion of an alcohol-related death.

She said: "It's more likely than not the alcohol consumed has rendered Kay unconscious.

“Kay has vomited and inhaled gastric acid into her upper airway, resulting in her death.

"It's something that a lot of people do, going out drinking, it's not something that is unusual and she was clearly very unfortunate as to the results of what happened. I think this just demonstrates how dangerous alcohol can be."

A web page has been set up in her memory by heartbroken friends where they have paid tribute to her.

Louise wrote on the site: "Enjoy the heavens my perfect Kay. I wish you could be here to see just how loved you are.

“Make sure you have a pint waiting for me beautiful. I love you more than words could ever say, and actions could ever show.

“You are the light in my world and I will keep you with me forever."

Bride Lauren Kenny said: "Keep smiling and singing gorgeous girl! Until we meet again you will always hold a special place in my heart."

Another friend Gemma added: "Kay, you had the ability to instantly put people at ease. From the moment we met, your positive bubbly personality just radiated and it was an absolute pleasure being around you.

“I cannot believe how our weekend with so many amazing memories ended the way it did and I’m just so sorry.
