William Tyrrell’s foster mother has called on police to release the evidence they claim to have amassed against her after detectives asked prosecutors to charge her over the boy’s disappearance.

William vanished from the home of his foster grandmother in the tiny town of Kendall, on the NSW Mid North Coast, in September 2014. He is presumed dead.

Strike Force Rosann, set up to investigate the three-year-old’s disappearance, now suspects he died in a tragic accident, Nine News reported on Tuesday.

Rosann’s detectives also suspect William’s foster mother, who cannot be identified, covered up the boy’s death and dumped his body in bushland near the home.

The foster mother, speaking through her solicitor Sharon Ramsden on Wednesday morning, called on police to disclose the evidence against her.

“The foster mother and her legal representatives call for disclosure of the evidence which police suggest forms the basis of any criminal proceedings,” the statement reads.

“The foster mother has always, and maintains, she has nothing to do with William’s disappearance. She desperately urges the police to resume the investigation into finding out what happened to William.”

The statement comes after Rosann’s detectives recommended the Director of Public Prosecutions charge the foster mother with perverting the course of justice and interfering with a corpse.

“William’s foster mother and her legal representatives urge the Director of Public Prosecutions to expeditiously determine whether charges are to be laid,” her statement reads.

The foster mother has never been charged for William’s death and there is no suggestion of her guilt.

Her statement notes she was previously ruled out as a suspect in the nine-year-long investigation.

Ramsden had not been advised by police that they had written to the DPP when contacted by the Herald on Tuesday night.

Ramsden confirmed, on Wednesday, she had written to the police seeking confirmation.
