Woman suffers horror injuries as arm gets trapped inside bar’s mechanical bull

A woman who got her arm stuck in a mechanical bull while on a night out has been left with no sensation in her arm.

Janice Clixby, 58, was on a night out at a sports bar in Scunthorpe with her ex partner and his two daughters.

She had one drink before deciding to ride the bull – a mainstay of Schnapps Sports Bar and Nightclub, reports GrimsbyLive.

After holding on for short time, Janice's arm suddenly became became trapped in a hole where one of the fake horns should have been.

She then fell off the bull on the opposite side to where the hole was, forcing her to run around the machine until she could free her tangled arm.

"I was really scared. You couldn't hear me screaming because of the music in the pub. When I finally got my arm out I collapsed. I was a mess, I was bleeding so much. I was out cold and I don't even know who picked me up," the mum of four told GrimsbyLive.

"When I was taken to the hospital, they couldn't stitch it up because it was a flap, that skin had died, so I had to get it dressed every other day at the doctors."

The hospital worker claims when she first climbed onto the bull, she noticed silver duct tape peeling away from a hole.

"There was a bit of tape and I held it up to the man who was starting the bull up and he just shrugged his shoulders," Janice said.

Janice has been left with a permanent dent and scar on her arm while a large part of her arm has been left completely numb.

She said the incident has left her "traumatised" and too scared to go out.

Janice is currently trying to get compensation for the incident, which happened in December 2019, but says the bar has not even apologised to her.

"They offered me £3,500 initially but I rejected this. Recently they said they wanted to pay me just £1,000. The bar still hasn't apologised," she said.

Schnapps Sports Bar and Grill has been approached for comment.
