World’s most powerful militaries ranked – and UK trails behind Russia and India
With the world's eyes trained on Russia after Vladimir Putin ordered the conscription of between 300 and 100k soldiers, renewed focus has been placed on the strength of the power mad autocrat's army.
And with whispers of an imminent WW3 becoming more audible, countries are looking at the strength, or lack of strength, of their own defences.
"I'm not bluffing," was Putin's stark warning as he spoke of his country's nuclear capabilities, and nuclear willingness.

But the 2022 military strength ranking has revealed just before his "special operation" kicked off in late February that Putin's army is only the second strongest in the world.
According to the list, the data is constructed from “over 50 individual factors to determine a given nation’s PowerIndex score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography.”
The US have been listed in first place with a power index score of 0.0453, which is no surprise seeing as they have a huge defence budget of of $700 billion as of 2020, reports HITC.com
Russia has been given a score of 0.0501 and is thought to have around 900,000 active military personnel.
China’s military force has an estimated 2 million active military personnel and is recognised for its manpower. They came in at third place.
Britain lagged behind India and France, with the United Kingdom being ranked in 8th place on the list.
Brazil just about made the top ten, while Ukraine failed to even reach the top 20 countries, with a ranking of 22nd place.
According to the list by Glover Firepower, the perfect index score is 0.0000.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion on Ukraine, with explosions heard across major cities with hundreds of casualties reported on February 24.
In a worrying speech on Wednesday morning, the Russian dictator announced that the new recruits would be sent off to war as early as this week, with the partial mobilisation decree having already been signed.

The Russian President also suggested he was willing to launch nuclear strikes in response to attacks on his territory.
The warmonger claimed Russia had "lots of weapons to reply" to apparent "nuclear blackmail" by the West, announcing he would use "all means necessary" against the those trying to "subjugate" the nation, including "neo-nazis" in Ukraine.
