Nightclub punters could be kicked out if they have ‘bad breath and body odour’
A nightclub has caused quite a stink after saying they'd be asking customers with poor body odour and hygiene to leave.
LGBTQ+ club Tiny, based in Middlesbrough, penned a "polite notice" to its customers and warned that revellers would be asked to leave if their personal hygiene wasn't up to scratch.
In the post, management said that staff and customers have the right to be in an environment "where they don't gip at the smell of your breath or bodily odours".
The post continued saying that staff will be "supported by management" when asking pungent punters to leave the venue.
Their Facebook post reasons that "it's just decent innit" when it comes to personal hygiene, with club management saying: "Please ensure good bodily hygiene when visiting Tiny.
"Our staff and customers have the right to work in an environment where they don't gip at the smell of your breath or bodily odours. If you are old enough to be drinking and visiting clubs and bars, you are old enough to be able to practice good personal hygiene.
"We all have an off-day every now and again where we forget to pop some spray on or whatever. Just ask at the bar. We will try our best to find something to help…"
Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin wants to turn Buckingham Palace into pub now Queen has left
TeesideLive reported that the venue has warned that if it "becomes a bit of a habit" then staff will be "supported by management if they believe that someone is causing discomfort to others."
A spokesperson for the club said: "The post was meant in good humour, but it has started to annoy us all a little bit. It's become a bit of a common thing.
"If you are adult enough to go on a night out… we're not a creche, we don't want to have to teach people to put spray on or brush their teeth.
"We've lost custom because of it, people have left because of the smell."
