Police say ute driver picked up woman linked to stabbing deaths
Police are appealing for public help to locate a ute driver who picked up a woman connected to a double killing in Brunswick on Thursday.
The blood-soaked, 44-year-old woman was arrested on a tram early on Thursday morning, shortly after emergency services found two men with fatal knife wounds at an apartment building on the corner of Breese and Hope streets.

After she was arrested in Carlton, the woman was taken to hospital for treatment of a number of injuries. But police confirmed she could now be interviewed, after being discharged late on Friday afternoon.
On Thursday morning police responded to reports of a stabbing at the Brunswick address, where they found a 59-year-old Brunswick man already dead while another man, aged 61, from Coburg, died on the way to hospital.
The woman and two men are all thought to be known to each other.
Police are now hoping to find the driver of a ute who, they believe, drove the woman from Brunswick to the corner of Lygon and Pigdon streets in Carlton at about 5.40am on Thursday.
The vehicle was dark-coloured with tool boxes on the back and a snorkel on the driver’s side. Police want help to identify the vehicle and contact the driver.
“At this time there is nothing to indicate that person was involved in the incident and is being treated as a witness only,” a police statement said.

The woman was reportedly seen on CCTV wandering the streets covered in blood after the attack. She was wearing light blue pants and a green bra. Her left hand appeared to be wrapped in a shirt and her shoes covered in blood.
The Age reported she is believed to have left a 1.5-kilometre trail of blood through laneways and a children’s playground.
Police continued their investigation at the apartment building on Friday, and blood stains remained on the footpath outside.
Residents inside the building declined to comment about what happened.
