Ahead of National Nurses Day, Chipotle Mexican Grill announced a burrito giveaway for “healthcare heroes.”

Starting Thursday, the fast-casual restaurant chain says it will give 250,000 codes for free burritos to nurses, medical providers and hospital providers. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. PT April 29 at https://giving.chipotle.com/healthcareheroes.

The codes will be available while supplies last and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Given the events of the past year, we are once again bringing our fans together to show appreciation for the heroic efforts of the healthcare community,” Chris Brandt, Chipotle chief marketing officer, said in a news release.

National Nurses Day is May 6 and this offer is different than Chipotle’s past promotions for nurses, which includes a buy-one-get-one free deal in 2018.

To get this freebie, health care workers will have to confirm eligibility with ID.me, a verification service. According to the offer’s fine print, a copy of an employee ID or other information is required.

There’s a limit of one application per person. After applications are verified, an email will be sent within seven days and eligible applicants will get a code redeemable for one free adult entree. The codes expire May 31.

Chipotle also is asking consumers to thank health care workers in their community through a virtual thank you wall on its website. In addition, the chain launches an “egift card program” Wednesday that it says will support health care workers.

Through May 9, the company says it will match 10% of the digital gift card purchases and donate the funds to the American Nurses Foundation, part of the American Nurses Association. Chipotle says its maximum donation would be $250,000.
