Markets commenced trading in the new-year with optimism amidst disruptions to New Year celebrations and travel, over Omicron and Covid related concerns. Most major Asian equity markets were closed. European stocks are buoyant. American stock futures are in positive zone. The Dollar Index has declined. Bond yields are moving mixed. Oil prices firmed up ahead of the OPEC+ meeting on Tuesday. Gold cooled a bit after rising for three consecutive trading sessions. Cryptocurrencies have recovered modestly. Bitcoin is however in overnight negative territory.
