Joe Biden confirms he’ll meet King Charles and Rishi Sunak on UK visit

Joe Biden has confirmed he will meet with King Charles and Rishi Sunak, just days before he is set to arrive in the UK.

The US President will visit the UK before heading to Lithuania and Finland in an overseas trip from July 9 to 13.

The visit has long been expected, with Rishi Sunak visiting Washington last month for talks with the President.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement: “President Biden is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and Finland from July 9-13.

“President Biden will first travel to London, United Kingdom for engagements with King Charles III and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to further strengthen the close relationship between our nations.”

The President paid a brief visit to Northern Ireland earlier this year to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, during which he met with Mr Sunak for talks in Belfast.

Mr Biden said he would make a state visit to the UK earlier this year after it was announced that he would be missing the coronation of King Charles III in May.
