Former Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council Fion Hill sat down on BBC’s Newsnight to discuss Russia’s growing threat on Ukraine and what this means for the international community. Ms Hill warned other European countries about Putin’s actions “what is to stop other countries from doing this to their neighbour”. Vladimir Putin currently has around 100,000 troops lined up at the border of Ukraine but the Russian President has denied having strategies in place to invade. Ms Hill discussed the threat of Russia sparking a third world war with other countries, as support for Ukraine has come in from the UK and US.
Ms Hill said: “Well, look it’s the larger assessment that everybody has had about the state of affairs.
“Ukraine is not a member of NATO, however, it is a member of the United Nations International system.
“And, again the point being here putting aside previous Presidents and things we could’ve done before.
“Here and now Ukraine is an independent sovereign country that has been attacked by an outside aggressor.
