Car ploughs into pedestrians outside nightclub leaving multiple casualties

Five people are in hospital after a car crashed into a group of pedestrians in Edinburgh.

Police and paramedics were called to Rose Street around 12:40am earlier this morning, where they found two men aged 39 and 60, along with three women aged 22, 37 and 65, all injured.

They were taken to hospital where their condition is understood to be stable, the Daily Record reports.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and police were forced to pursue the car before it crashed into a bus on Lothian Road.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

A police investigation into the crash is still underway, which is why sections of Rose Street, Frederick Street and Lothian Road have been closed off.

Officers are also are examining a damaged vehicle behind the cordon.
