Cruel Pro-Russian trolls hit back at news from Brit soldier captured in Ukraine

A British soldier who was captured in Ukraine has been set upon by cruel pro-Russian trolls after he revealed he will be releasing a book about his terrifying ordeal.

Aiden Aslin, 28, faced execution after being held captive for months by Russian forces, who accused him of being a mercenary when he surrendered in Mariupol back in in April.

He was due to face a firing squad when the Saudi Crown Prince and ex-Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich helped secure his release last September.

Now he is set to release a book — called Putin's Prisoner — about his ordeal. In April he announced the book about his Mariupol captivity and followed up with more info yesterday (Wednesday, May 10).

He wrote: "My book about my time in the Ukrainian military and being taken captive by Russia is coming out on July 20th! It's a harrowing tale of survival and perseverance.

"It's going to be going in depth with the Propaganda Tactics that were used against us during captivity.

"Don't miss out on this incredible story – pre-order your copy now!"

His tweet was flooded by pro-Russian messages from several accounts. One scathing remark went: "The idiot who plays soldier because he thinks his passport will protect him and then finds out that war is real and becomes a tool of Russian propaganda…"

One bloke simply called him a "grifter" while another said "it's all about the money".

Others referenced a video where Aslin, from Newark in Nottinghamshire, was filmed singing the Russian national anthem.

"Have you learned Russian Anthem better?" someone teased.

Another, sharing the video, said: "You brave, brave boy fighting for a neo Nazi regime.

"The world is laughing at you.
