I'm an escort and it can be embarrassing – I text my brother thinking he was a client… he didn’t know about my job | The Sun

EARNING a living as an escort can be fraught with pitfalls, as Gigi Patsy knows all too well.

The 31-year-old from Hertfordshire has opened up on the realities of the industry, and recalls one mortifying moment when she accidentally revealed her job to her family.

The slip-up came recently when Gigi accidentally text her brother instead of client, but she insists he "took it like a champ".

She tells The Sun: "I accidentally messaged him on the wrong number.

"He doesn't live in the UK so he joked that he would have to watch out for the websites I'm on when he's here so he can avoid them."

Gigi explains she has clients that range from CEOs to truckers, mainly aged between 25 and 50.

She controversially admits that while many have partners, she believes she's actually doing their marriages a favour.

"A lot of the time, they are just not getting this one little element that they need," she says. "A lot of them will come to me because they don't want an affair. It's easier for them."

She insists not all of her clients book her purely for sexual purposes, however – some simply enjoy her company.

She says: "They might only have intimacy for about 15 minutes and the rest is just talking, cuddling, kissing, telling jokes, and sharing restaurant recommendations.

'I fell for a client'

And while Gigi likes to keep her relationships with her clients strictly professional, she admits there was one she could not resist.

"He was stunning – he was so good looking and for me, he was just my type," she says.

"Whenever he'd text me to book me, I'd get all excited – the appointment time would pass and I'd tell him he can stay for a bit if he wants. I was seeing him for six months.

"I did like him a lot but he was married and I realised that it wasn't for me so I ended it."

Safety first

While Gigi enjoys what she does, she has taken firm steps to ensure her health and safety.

Previously, sex workers have warned that the industry is vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.

While some go into the industry by choice, others may have been forced, trafficked or drawn into it due to drug addiction or homelessness – and could run the risk of spreading sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

One former escort previously told us how the work was lonely, often dangerous and led to drink problems that resulted in her having her stomach pumped.

Gigi says: "I now have so many things in place so I never feel unsafe. I've got a Ring doorbell, my neighbours know, and my best friend lives in my building.

"When people come, they know that their face is going straight to the cloud.

"But most guys I've met are sweethearts. They are not here to start trouble. Why would you want to?"

Gigi doesn't plan on settling down anytime soon.

"I don't want kids and I don't really care if I get married," she says.

"It would be nice to have a partner but that's not the be-all and end-all. I've got great friends and I'm very busy a lot of the time.

"If I had to date, I might date a woman just because they might feel less threatened about it.

"I think a lot of people in my circle are polyamorous and would understand and if they don't understand, they're not the right person for me."

Gave up high-flying job

Before embarking on a full-time career as an escort, Gigi had a job as a sales director and earned a good salary.

Her decision to enter the sex industry, she says, was not sparked by desperation for cash, but rather a desire to pursue what makes her happy.

She says: "I had a good job but I have always been in the sex community and that is what I enjoy.

"I don't need to do it, I want to do it. A lot of people assume escorts do it because they have to and that's not the case for a lot of us.

"I've always been part of sex clubs and swinging parties and stuff like that and me and an ex-boyfriend used to roleplay with me being an escort so I thought… why not?"
