Larimer County wildfire forces evacuations near Carter Lake

A wildfire in Larimer County forced evacuations Sunday, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was burning near Wild Wing Drive off of County Roads 12 and 29 in southeast Larimer County, just east of Carter Lake, according to the sheriff’s office.

Residents living on Wild Wing Drive were ordered to evacuate at about 12:42 p.m. Sunday. The evacuation area includes homes in between east of County Road 29 and west Homer Road and north of County Road 12. Residents who live in that area within a mile to the north of County Road 12 should leave.

The evacuation area covers fewer than 20 homes.

Residents forced to evacuate can go to the Berthoud Community Center at 248 Welch Ave. in Berthoud, according to the sheriff’s office.
