A group of revellers saw their Saturday night end in tragedy after their luxury party bus was involved in a crash that killed 12 people.

The fatal collision happened in the Subuiga area of Kenya when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a 14-seater minibus before also ploughing into a lorry.

Prior to the tragic incident, passengers had been enjoying their time on the party bus, which came complete with a DJ deck, dance floor, TV screens and a sound system.

Photos taken after the crash also showed that there was a bar on the bus, with one survivor revealing that the passengers were on their way to a bush night party in the county of Samburu.

The entertainment service that provides the bus is called "Party on Wheels" and the company's Instagram page also details how the swanky coach boasts an on-board bathroom.

"We party on the move," a promotional video adds.

Traffic police have confirmed that Saturday's (October 8) crash happened at approximately 8pm local time (6pm UK time) with 11 people killed at the scene, including the driver of the party bus.

Another person then lost their fight for life on Sunday (October 9) morning when they succumbed to injuries at nearby St Theresa Kiirua hospital.

A police officer said: "The two vehicles (the bus and the minibus) were going down the hill when the bus lost brakes hitting the matatu (minibus) that veered off into a ditch.

"Seven people from the minibus lost their lives on the spot, while four others, including the driver of the bus, were killed after it also hit a lorry."

On Sunday morning, doctors reported that 21 people were still being treated at St Theresa Kiirua hospital and that two had been discharged.

It was added that three other patients chose to be released to recuperate at home at their own request and seven others were given permission to leave the hospital after being treated.
