Mass shooting threat to Donald Trump supporter event as gunman vows to get 'bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies'
POLICE are at the scene of a Donald Trump supporter event after a Twitter user posted an image of a gun and threatened to get "bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies".
The threat was made ahead of the event at the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC.
The anonymous Twitter account claiming to support a far-left political group posted a picture of a gun and referenced the President's campaign slogan Make American Great Again.
The account wrote: "I am coming with a gun and i expect to get numerous bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies."
It had been in response to tweet by conservative writer Cassandra Fairbanks.
The MailOnline reports that staff at the hotel are aware of the threat and taking appropriate security measures.
A spokesman said the Metropolitan police department is investigating.
The event is a monthly meeting of "a mix of several different pro-Trump groups" according to Cassandra Fairbanks.
