Millions of Brits have been warned to only travel if necessary as a “freezing fog” is predicted to fall over a huge swathe of the country this evening.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog for much of the Midlands, London, Yorkshire and the east of England.

Drivers are being warned of reduced visibility and icy conditions on the roads, and some flights may be cancelled.

The yellow warning is in place from 2am to 11am tomorrow – although the fog is expected to fall as early as this evening.
