Official police Twitter account makes foul-mouthed blunder in heatwave warning

It seems the hot weather really is frazzling everyone's brains this week with even the police in Cardiff accidentally making a hilarious blunder on their Twitter page by including the word "s**t.

The Welsh outfit had intended to post a message encouraging people to be safe in the extreme temperatures sweeping the UK.

However, in a moment of internet-based hilarity, the department got their words in a bit of twist.

Writing on the official South Wales Police Cardiff Twitter, the force wrote: “South Wales Police Specialist Search engaging with the marine community on the hottest day of the year.

“Thankfully everybody is enjoying the sun and the water responsibly so far.

“That’s the sort of s**t the other teams are putting on.”

The final line looks like a copy and paste blunder, maybe from instructions about how to put up information and posts on the force's account.

Facing up to their humorous gaffe, the force replaced the tweet with a slightly more family-friendly version. They said: “#SWPSpecialistSearch still engaging with the marine community on the hottest day of the year…

  • 'I don't use deodorant as I love smell of sweat – even when we're in heatwave'

“Still getting used to twitter”, followed by a winking face.

Eagle-eyed Twitter users, however, didn’t let the force get away with it entirely, instead taking the time to remind it of its earlier blunder in the new post’s comments.

One user wrote: “That’s the sort of …thing…the other teams are putting on.

Keep up the good work – preferred the first version”.

A second user added: “The previous one was SO much better!”

Another simply put: “Too late screenshot done.”

On the edited original post, quips poured in too. One user wrote: “I preferred the original” while another added “Good work guys”, followed by embarrassed and cry-laughing emojis.
