One parole officer hit by driver in Colorado Springs has died

One of the state parole officers injured in Colorado Springs during a hit-and-run crash has died, according to the Colorado Springs police department.

Justin Andrew Kula, 41, the alleged driver, was the subject of a CBI Blue Alert for the incident at North Spruce and West Bijou streets on Thursday. He was found and apprehended later that evening about 7 p.m.

Two parole officers were struck by a vehicle at about 3:45 p.m. Both went to the hospital, one with serious injuries.

Police reported the parole officer’s death in a 10:40 p.m. update on Facebook. The officer has not been identified, and police did not provide an update on the other officer injured.

A news briefing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday in Colorado Springs.
