Russian President Vladimir Putin used an annual arms convention on the edge of Moscow to boast his soldiers’ equipment was “decades” ahead of anything the West has at its disposal. The week-long International Military Technical Forum was organised by Russia’s Ministry of Defence and is being co-hosted by 12 countries – including China and Iran. According to Russian army statements, 36 Government contracts worth £7.1billion are expected to be signed with Russian and foreign defence industry companies.
Russia flaunted T-72 battle tanks, BMP K-17 armoured trucks and Tulpan self-propelled heavy mortar shells to foreign buyers at the event.
More than 1,500 Russian and foreign defence industries companies displayed nearly 28,000 military and civilian products.
One of the more remarkable pictures was that of a Russian soldier wiring up a military student to a “brain test”.
The astonishing image shows an amateur male soldier in full military uniform having wires attached to his head, following a diagram in the background.
In a chilling prediction, Putin previously claimed genetically-modified “super soldiers” could soon become an unbelievable reality and worse still, they would be incapable of feeling “pain or fear”.
During the event, a robot dog was on display, and was seen trotting along the floor while carrying a rocket-propelled grenade launcher on its back.
In yet another terrifying weaponry development the robot can crouch on floor so it would make it more difficult to be spotted by enemies, while it waits to launch a rocket.
The M-81 system will also be capable of moving weapons and ammunition, as well as firing them during battle, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
A prototype of the Ural “first self-driving military truck” that can reportedly hit top speeds of 80kmph was on display.
Putin also flaunted his apparent “Ukraine trophies” – including an M777 howitzer and a Tochka-U missile shot down and captured by his troops.
The Russian President attended the event at the start of this week and during his speech, issued a chilling message to Russia’s enemies as his country’s war in Ukraine continues.
He said: “We are ready to offer our allies and partners the most modern types of weapons, from small arms to armoured vehicles and artillery, from warplanes to drones.

“These guns are in demand among military professionals all over the world for their reliability, quality, and most importantly, their high efficiency.
“Almost all of them have been used many times in real military operations.”
Putin said Russia could offer new models and systems, adding: “We are talking about high-precision weapons and robotics, about combat systems based on new physical principles.
“Many of them are years, or maybe decades ahead of their foreign counterparts, and in terms of tactical and technical characteristics they are significantly superior to them.”
Russia has arms sales of £12.4billion per year – second only behind the US and accounting for nearly a fifth of the global export market.
But the war in Ukraine has not gone totally t6o plan for Kremlin chiefs, who have received pushbacks from key allies as Russia’s arsenal struggles to complete its objectives, making its arms exports less attractive to potential buyers.
