Royal fans slam Cambridges for Ukraine support following Wills’ ‘alien’ comment

Royal fans have slammed Prince William and Kate Middleton's "laughable" support for the Ukraine with some claiming their appearance at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre was just a "photo op".

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London earlier this week to meet with volunteers.

Prince William came under fire by royal fans after he commented that a war in Europe is "very alien to see".

The Royal couple previously expressed their solidarity with the Ukrainian people, tweeting: "We stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future."

But some Royal fans have criticised the couple's support of the Ukraine and claimed that they could do more.

One fan wrote: "Why don't they do something to help instead of visiting… just a photo op.."

Another said: "Instead of the sad faces and pretend concern, open up the castles and palaces and country estates and give fleeing Ukrainians a safe place to stay."

However, some people have spoken out in appreciation of the public show of support from both Will and Kate.

"How great to see them supporting Ukraine again, they truly are empathetic, caring humanitarians," said one fan.

Another person simply wrote: "Lovely people."

The criticism comes shortly after the backlash against Prince William's "ignorant" comments about war in Europe being "alien".

Responding to the comments, Royal journalist Omid Scobie said: "Unsurprised to see backlash against Prince William's ignorant remark (reported by @PA).

"Europe has seen some of the bloodiest conflict in the past two centuries—Balkans, Yugoslavia, Germany and Kosovo to name a few. But sure, let's normalise war and death in Africa and Asia."

Representatives for Prince William and Kate Middleton have been contacted for comment.
