‘Shamima Begum still shows no remorse – she shouldn’t be allowed back to UK’

Jihadi bride Shamima Begum has gone from shrouded death cult supporter to a walking advert for Primark with an addiction to Jay-Z and the Kardashians.

We know this because she’s given another interview from the al-Roj prison camp in Syria where she’s been since the fall of Islamic State.

She also complains she was "just a dumb kid" when she stole a passport, money and managed to navigate her way to a war zone and begs: "Can I come home, pretty please?"

It’s designed to tick every sympathy-earning vote box going.

Fully expected her to add that she’s got a place on the new series of Love Island and a TikTok account with a million followers.

Instead, of course, she denied she needed rehabilitation and – in true Miss World-style – said she wanted to help others.

Yep, making the world a better place by throwing gay men off tall buildings, beheading charity workers, and as for those pesky airline pilots? Well, just lock them in a cage and set them on fire. That’ll do the trick. Hashtag be kind indeed.

Though, naturally, while the world looked on in horror at the evils Isis boasted about on every platform going, Ms Begum, above, wasn’t aware of any of this.

She simply fled to the best-publicised bloodbath ever to "keep up with her mates" and "help the people of Syria".

Can we just remind ourselves that it was a mere two years ago this very same "naive and shy" young woman boldly declared that the horrific murder of 22 innocents at a Manchester pop concert was "justified"?

The suspicious timing of Shamima’s conversion on the road to skinny jeans and baseball caps doesn’t help her cause.

It’s only when Isis were on their last knockings that she "suddenly" realised the error of her ways. Shamima’s Dutch terrorist husband is still in jail for the hideous war crimes that his kind revelled in.

This includes raping little Yazidi girls to death.

But let’s not forget that this loved-up young couple became the proud parents of three babies. In her original "woe is me" interviews, Shamima claimed her first two tots had died of malnutrition.

In this chat, she is slightly vague about what exactly happened to them. And even the very sympathetic journalist interviewing her was uncomfortable with this part of her testimony.

On the last one – born while she was in the prison camp – she’s slightly clearer, saying the child died of pneumonia. She then says she considered taking her own life over this and asks for a hug.

Look, you’d need to be a heartless cow capable of strolling through a high street full of severed heads in bins and corpses hanged from lampposts not to feel sympathy for a young mum losing a child but…

What doesn’t come across in this chat is any sign of genuine remorse or even an apology. She even invokes the age-old teenage trope, saying "everybody hates me".

Possibly before storming off to her room and playing drill music very loudly.

It’s the use of the phrase "pretty please" that really makes you doubt Ms Begum, though. Of course, she wants to come back, and the woke way this country is going she probably will.

But I’m sure Saffie-Rose Roussos would love to come back too. Only she never can. Because her young life was snuffed out by a terrorist scumbag who worshipped at the same altar as Shamima.

Saffie was eight years old and at a pop concert. Begum is 21 years old and in a hell entirely of her own making.

There’s nothing pretty about her pleas.
