Teacher's aide, 33, is charged with rape after 'having sex with a student, 12, in her home over a two-week period'

A TEACHER’S aide has been charged with rape after allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old student in her home over two weeks.

Mandy Davis, 33, of South Bloomfield, Ohio is being held on charges of gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, as well as rape.

Davis worked at Teays Valley West Middle School and it's alleged she had a sexual relationship with the student between April 26 and May 11 in her home.

The Pickaway County sheriff's office investigated after being alerted by a concerned school employee about an "odd relationship" between Davis and a student, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

It is illegal for adults in Ohio to have sex with anyone under the age of 16 and educators to have sex with students of any age.

Detectives from the sheriff's office, South Bloomfield Police Department and Ohio BCI executed a search warrant at Davis' home to secure additional evidence after her arrest.

Davis' next next court appearance is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 27 and her bond is set $250,000, according to Pickaway County Municipal Court.

If released, Davis would be required to wear a GPS monitor.

Teays Valley Local Schools issued a statement confirming Davis worked part-time "as needed" but  is no longer employed with the district.

"Since this is a pending personnel matter involving a district employee, our practice is not to publicly discuss the specific facts and circumstances,” read the statement.

“However, we can confirm that Ms. Davis has been notified that her services are no longer needed by the Board of Education.

"We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to the safety and well-being of our students as our first priority."
