Woman found dead in house on leafy Sussex street as man, 35, arrested on suspicion of murder – The Sun

A WOMAN has been found dead on a leafy Sussex street as a 35-year-old man is held on suspicion of murder.

Police were called to a house on Court Meadow Close in Rotherfield – where houses cost up to £600,000 – on Wednesday evening.

The body of a woman in her 50s was found inside.

A 35-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday afternoon and remains in custody.

Cops are stepping up their presence in the area for the "foreseeable" future, said Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team.

“This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this difficult time," he said.

“This is a fast-moving and complex investigation still involving many lines of enquiry.

“We have spoken to a number of people in the local area as part of our investigation already but we are still urging anyone who heard or saw anything unusual or out of place over the last few days to make contact with us."
