There are more than a few ways to grill at home: a gas-powered or charcoal outdoor grill, an electric indoor smokeless grill or simply with a cast-iron grill pan. Come the cooler months, grilling indoors is definitely preferred — and you should check out the Le Creuset Round Grill Pan to do it right. Plus, the top-rated pan is currently on sale for $75 off right now at Williams Sonoma.

If you’ve been considering buying a grill pan, now may be the time to take the plunge. Using a grill pan is arguably the easiest way to grill meats, veggies and fruits, especially if you don’t have space for a full-sized grill. Plus, it’s much easier to clean.

The Le Creuset Cast Iron Round Grill Pan is small but mighty and fits over a single burner on the stove. (For safer outdoor grilling, you can also place it on top of an outdoor grill, but more on that later.) Its cast-iron construction helps to distribute heat evenly and retains heat for the perfect sear.

Plus, it’s Le Creuset, so the cast iron comes with an enamel and can be placed in the dishwasher. And it comes in a wide range of vivid colors. You can find the grill pan on sale on Le Creuset’s website, but only the white is still in stock there. At Williams Sonoma, you can get it for the same price in red, orange, gray, blue, ocean blue and also white.

Although a grill pan may not impart the same smoky flavor as an outdoor grill, charred meats aren’t necessarily a good thing. According to research and government reports by the National Cancer Institute, cooking meat at a high temperature, particularly over an open flame where fat can drip and create smoke, can cause the formation of HCAs (heterocyclic amines) and PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons).

Studies claim these chemicals can increase the risk of cancer by causing changes in DNA. HCAs are mostly present in meats cooked at high temperatures, while PAHs are often in smoked foods, cigarette smoke and car exhaust fumes.

Of course, other trusted brands besides Le Creuset make grill plans, including Lodge, Staub and Nordic Ware. But Le Creuset is a favorite amongst chefs — even Julia Child was said to be a fan!

You can use your grill pan to make these Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken Strips by Damn Delicious, some Grilled Pork Tenderloin With Chimichurri Sauce by Modern Proper or a Tuscan Steak With Marinated Cherry Tomatoes by Half Baked Harvest. No matter what you cook on your new pan, you know it will be deliciously (and safely) grilled.
